84% of companies believe employee engagement has gone up. — Willa Towers Watson, Deeper Dive into the Employee Experience Implications of COVID-19 (22 April 2020)
Covid 19 has unified staff behind a common “engaging purpose”, which must be overcome. Typically employees have:
- Suggested ways to work more efficiently from home
- Gone the extra mile to retain clients and serve customers
- Spent extra time to encourage and connect with their co-workers
- and with the management teams worked harder to respond quickly (important when circumstances have changed drastically overnight).
However, as we start exiting lockdown the uniting purpose will be diluted. To retain the employee engagement, business owners should aim to replace the “global engaging purpose”, with a bespoke one for their business in the new normal.
To aid them with engaging the staff in the business purpose, Engagement Multiplier are offering a free benchmark staff survey to help ascertain how the “Covid – 19 common purpose” can be replaced with an “engaging purpose” for your business.
